Q: What is the closest airport to JW Outfitters?
A: Appleton & Green Bay are recommended for the closest airport. Madison and Wausau are also close airports. Milwaukee Airport would be 3 hours away. There is no transportation to and from the airport, you will need to rent a vehicle.
Q: Do you have trophy fees?
A: There are no trophy fees at JW Outfitters.
Q: Is a hunting license required?
A: Yes, a license required for all hunts in accordance to the WI DNR Regulations which can be found at www.gowild.wi.gov
Q: Do you need to apply for licenses?
A: All licenses can be purchased over the counter except for Spring Turkey License and Bear Licenses which will require you to apply at the WI DNR website which can be found at www.gowild.wi.gov
Q: Are you a game farm or high fence hung?
A: No. All animals are wild fair chase game that roam freely on and off the JW Properties. There is no guarantee for any hunt.
Q: Do I need to bring my own bedding and towels?
A: Yes, bringing your own bedding and towels are preferred though JW will supply to for a $25.00 per person fee.
Q: Is safety equipment (ropes and/or hangers) provided?
A: No. It is recommended to bring your own safety equipment, harnesses, ropes, hangers to use at hunting locations.
Q: What is your success rate?
A: We average an 85% shot opportunity for whitetail. Turkey are 100%. Bear are 50%. The average kill rate overall for big game on JW Properties is 42%.
Q: How many groups will be at the facility during the days of my hunt?
A: All hunts are booked 1 on 1. Only your group booked for the dates of your hunt will be at the Lodge or Cabin.
Q: Do you do the taxidermy or meat processing?
A: No. I provide local butchers and taxidermists to choose from that work together with my outfitter. The price of taxidermy and meat processing is at the cost of the client and is not included in the price of your hunt at JW Outfitters.
Q: What kind of stands are available for use?
A: There are over 50 two person ladder stands on the properties. New for 2025 there are 8 fully enclosed, insulated, scent controlled 5x5 box blinds. The box blinds are able to be heated if hunter brings their own propane heater.
Q: Can you bring non-hunting guests?
A: Yes, for an additional charge per day. The charge is $125 per person per day. This is subject to availability and the owner's discretion.
Q: How large is the JW Outfitters property?
A: There are over 1200 privately owned acres over three farms. The exclusive cabin hunt solely operates/hunts off of 40 of these acres.
Q: Can you use crossbow?
A: Yes.
Q: What is the average size of WI Whitetail that can be found on your property?
A: We have a 130 class / 8 point minimum with bucks that can mature up to 190 class (State Record Size!). The Wisconsin winters can be harsh and deer are subject to car/deer hits, but JW provides the habitat to grow large natural bucks and hold them on the property.
Q: Are deposits refundable or transferrable?
A: No. Once the hunt is booked for your dates, those are your dates. If you must cancel or can no longer make your hunt, your refund is lost.
